Tales of Inspiration #6 – Kim

Kim started attending group fitness classes at Lifestyle Family Fitness back in 2010.  Since our takeover to Lifetime Family Fitness, she has remained a dedicated staple in our group fitness classes.

Before she started working out, Kim found herself weighing in at  183 pounds on her small 5’5 frame. She decided to do something about it.  Kim took her health into her hands and began participating in group fitness classes.  The great thing about group fitness is that it is perfect for beginners who are unsure of what to do or how to work out in the gym.  Looking at her daily schedule, she was able to work in LesMills BodyPump and Zumba into her days.  She quickly added BodyCombat and Total Tone to her repertoire of classes.  With her new-found dedication, Kim was able to lose 30 pounds in 9 months! That alone is an incredible feat.  With the takeover of Lifetime and the changes in the group fitness schedule, Kim was able to supplement her love of LesMills classes with some Lifetime Signature Formats like STRIKE!, Total Conditioning, and Barbell Strength. But then, like so many of us, she hit a plateau and although she kept working out and taking group fitness classes she just couldn’t seem to lose any more weight.  Her progress was at a standstill.

Instead of giving up, Kim decided working with a personal trainer in addition to group fitness classes and participated in the weekly run club that was offered. Working with her trainer for one month, Kim was able to lose 3% of her body fat.  Soon after that, she began her 90 Day Challenge with ViSalus.  That was TWO WEEKS ago.  In these past two weeks, Kim has taken the 2 shake a day mentality.  She begins her day with a breakfast shake, has a 100-calorie snack in the mid-morning, blends up a quick shake for lunch, follows up a late afternoon snack of  seasonal fruit, and finishes her day with a sensible dinner.

With her dedication and perseverance she has lost an incredible 9 pounds in just two weeks!  The changes I’ve seen in her physique have been incredible.  You can clearly see that her face has thinned and her belly is gone.  And while this is only the beginning, I know in my heart she will achieve her goal of 138 pounds in no time!  I cannot wait to share with you her 30 day pictures.  I’m sure they will be nothing short of amazing.  Way to go, Kim.  I’m super proud of you and couldn’t be happier!

About Food4Thought

I am no fitness expert. I am simply someone who has found joy in fitness and nutrition. I am a certified group fitness instructor. I’ve been teaching at the local health club for about 3 years now. While Zumba was my first love, I have since added Total Conditioning, Bodyworks plus Abs, and Core to my repertoire of classes. I work with a personal trainer to help me reach my fitness goals that I cannot obtain through group fitness alone. This year I ran my first 5K and plan to run my first 10K in March. To further my knowledge in the fitness realm, I have begun reading Strong Women Stay Slim, New Rules for Lifting Abs, and The Body Sculpting Bible for Women. On my list to read next is Wheat Belly. I am always looking for new ways to further my education and knowledge to better serve the members that take my group fitness classes. Lately, I have started tinkering with recipes, buying healthy cookbooks, and finding easy, tasty, and healthy foods to make. Like I mentioned earlier, I am by no means an expert, but the things I share with you have helped me tremendously with my fitness journey. It is my hope that with these easy tips and recipes, that you too can make these tiny steps and see big positive changes in your life.
