Tales of Inspiration #2 – Nancy and Beachbody

Nancy and I met in college and then later I worked with her at my first teaching job.  She is a dear friend of mine and I still cannot believe my eyes every time I see her.  Her transformation is completely amazing and she has earned every bit of it through hard work, dedication, and sweat.  Here is her story.

As a younger me, I was always tall and lanky.  Not necessarily healthy or fit, but I had the forgiving body of a teenager.  I filled my days with after school sports and running around with friends.  I never worried about weight or fitness.  I just did what came naturally.  However, like so many other women, after your youth is past things really changed for me.  In college I gained my freshman 15.  Well, let’s say my freshman 20.  Ok, it was more like 35.  I wasn’t leading the same busy lifestyle that I was in high school.  I saw my body changing, but without the structure of a “coach” telling me what to do to be successful, I just couldn’t get a handle on my increasing pant size.  Then came marriage.  Comfort set in and all fitness and any resemblance of healthy eating went right out the door.  Five years later I was pregnant and soon after having my son I found myself the heaviest I had ever been.  I was almost 200lbs and wearing size 16 pants.  I hated the way I looked and especially hated the way I felt.  My back and knees ached with every step.  I was miserable, unhealthy and overweight at the age of 29.  Then Tony came into my life.

Of course I had seen all of the infomercials promising me miracles in weight loss.  From all the pills, gadgets and workouts was there anything that would actually work?  One night I was at a very low point.  I was up late with my baby son and saw this 90 Day workout program that promised results.  It even claimed it would give you your money back IN 90 DAYS if it didn’t work.  I looked down at my little baby boy and whispered, “I have nothing to lose, right?”.  So, I picked up my computer and jumped on the P90X train and have never looked back.

This all began in January 2011.  In just a short year my life has completely changed.  I am now over 50 pounds lighter, countless inches smaller and happier than I could ever imagine.  I have a flat tummy and wear size 6 pants!  From a 16 to a 6!  That’s huge, or should I say small?  After completing P90X people began to see my body transforming and they’d ask me, ‘How can I do what you’ve done?’ I decided that the best way to share my success was to help other people do the same. I made the commitment to become a Beachbody coach and have been working to inspire people to experience what I have experienced ever since.

Watch her story here.

Coaching is helping me to not only continue to reach and meet my own personal goals, but the thrill of seeing someone lose their first inch or step on the scale and have a smile on their face is indescribable.  I don’t see myself as only a fitness coach, but also as a cheerleader, best friend and life coach.  Finding someone that connects with you and understands your struggles is so very important.  For anyone to find success in weight loss, you must surround yourself with a support network.  As a Beachbody fitness coach I work one-on-one with clients as well as place them into support groups.  These groups are networks of others experiencing the same struggles and successes in their own fitness journeys.  This is why fitness coaching works.  You are part of a team, with a coach to guide and support you every step of the way. You are never on your journey alone.

Beachbody has transformed my body and my life and I would love to help you experience how it can transform yours.  Contact me to get started in the Beachbody Challenge right away and let me introduce you to your team!

About Food4Thought

I am no fitness expert. I am simply someone who has found joy in fitness and nutrition. I am a certified group fitness instructor. I’ve been teaching at the local health club for about 3 years now. While Zumba was my first love, I have since added Total Conditioning, Bodyworks plus Abs, and Core to my repertoire of classes. I work with a personal trainer to help me reach my fitness goals that I cannot obtain through group fitness alone. This year I ran my first 5K and plan to run my first 10K in March. To further my knowledge in the fitness realm, I have begun reading Strong Women Stay Slim, New Rules for Lifting Abs, and The Body Sculpting Bible for Women. On my list to read next is Wheat Belly. I am always looking for new ways to further my education and knowledge to better serve the members that take my group fitness classes. Lately, I have started tinkering with recipes, buying healthy cookbooks, and finding easy, tasty, and healthy foods to make. Like I mentioned earlier, I am by no means an expert, but the things I share with you have helped me tremendously with my fitness journey. It is my hope that with these easy tips and recipes, that you too can make these tiny steps and see big positive changes in your life.
